Today the world is full of distractions. Each moment of our life is filled with multiple impulses and quite frankly will drive any one crazy over a period of time. So it is very natural for all of us to develop a certain level of aloofness towards such impulses.
It is a natural process to disregard an undesirable repetetive noise.
In the same way, our brain teaches us to disregard the unrequired information and focus on what we deem as necessary. While in itself, this is a fantastic thing to have on our side, it also takes away from us our capacity to be human, which is to experience life. Many parents often complain that their children do not listen to them.
My question to you is “ what have done to train them to listen to you?”
and 96% of the time none of them would have trained their kids to listen properly and will readily give an excuse that they never were trained to listen to others.
Unfortunately that is true. But that does not mean we should not do it ourselves. It is out duty to train our kids to listen. Listen with intent and without judgement. Learning to listen actively is a very important factor in a child’s growth because it the very foundtation of the human ability to understand, emphatize and think.
Starting today, I would encourage everyone to train themselves and their kids to listen actively and learn to listen with a suspended judgement.
How to learn to listen?
Well here is a good article to get started… Listen Actively
